The aim was to complete
the car for our Car Club's annual Show
and Shine, held in August each year.
With the car coming home from the pain
shop at the end of May - it gave us 2.5
months to get everything else done.
I had no idea that we would need to work
up until 11pm the night before to get it
ready for the show. The Saturday
before the show I took it for a blue
slip and rego, but the process was
fraught with problems. From the
green slip needing to be picked up from
the head office of the insurer, through
to the car not passing the blue
slip....... Months and months of
working towards driving the car to the
anniversary day and there was a chance
it wasn't going to happen..... I
walked into the RTA with less than 5
minutes to spare to get the car
registered. I cannot tell you how
petrified I was that it wasn't all going
to work out. We then brought the
car home and worked on the little
things, like spraying the drums and
cleaning the car that we finished in the
dim light of the garage.
I hardly slept that
night knowing I would be driving into
the park in my new car. I was
looking forward to seeing people do
exactly what I do... the turning of
heads and the muttering of 'who's car is
that, I haven't seen it before!'.
Wes went to set up so I was one of the
last cars to arrive after dropping
Andrew off with his grandmother.
It was a terrific day not only for me
but for those who helped me put it all
back together. The day ended
sweetly when I picked up the runner up
best EH/EJ sedan. I was thrilled
that our efforts all paid off.
